The foundation of Perception was laid 16 years ago when Laura began her career in scouting and placing models within the UK market.

Over the years, she held senior roles in various London-based model agencies, leading Scouting and International Placements alongside Model Development. During this time, she traveled extensively, forming strong relationships with scouts and bookers across the globe.

In May 2017, Laura met Carl, who was then working as a teacher at an SEMH school. With only school holidays available, Carl's free time aligned perfectly with Laura’s peak scouting periods. It was during these trips—often to shopping centres, which quickly became a regular part of their lives—that Laura recognised Carl’s natural eye for talent.

He discovered several exceptional models during this time and soon became Laura’s second lead scout.

The pair had ambitious plans to officially launch Perception in 2020. However, like many others, their plans were impacted by the global COVID-19 pandemic.

Rather than stepping back, Laura adapted quickly by shifting focus to the Asian market—one of the few regions that remained operational during lockdown. Her perseverance ensured the continuity and growth of the business during a challenging time.

Together, Laura and Carl have built Perception on a foundation of honesty, trust, and mutual respect. They take a tailored, individual approach to each model’s journey, understanding that every career path is unique.

Now, united both personally and professionally, they continue to live and work with their own unique Perception.
